This collaborative platform strives to advance aortic care and education both in the Gulf region and worldwide, leveraging strong partnerships with leading international institutions.
The Impact and Outcomes 2014
The Gulf Aorta journey began in 2014, marking a pivotal starting point and significant milestone for its visionary founders. This foundational initiative, referred to as Step Zero, was dedicated to launching focused workshops and educational training programs in aortic medicine. These programs were hosted at Al Qassimi hospital and Cardiovascular Centre and in collaboration with other leading institutions across the UAE and GCC.
The initiative was fuelled by the growing demand for advanced expertise and the need to establish standardized practices in the field. Through collaboration with prominent regional and international experts, Step Zero set the stage for what would become a transformative educational framework in aortic care.
The Gulf Aorta Initiative (2014-2019) :
Transforming vascular care had been achieved by the Aorta-Peripheral Vascular workshops and masterclasses—28 in total—were profoundly enriched by the participation of esteemed faculty members and conveners. Key contributors included Prof. Bernhard Reimers, Prof. Gianpaolo Carrafiello, Prof. Dierk Scheinert, Dr. Ayman Alsibaie, Dr. Arne G. Schwindt, and Dr. Ayman Salih, the whole project under the guidance and supervision of Prof. Arif Alnooryani (HOD of Interventional cardiology and CEO of AL Qassimi Hospital).
Founders ; Prof. Adel Aswad, Dr.Zaki Khalifa, Dr.Hussein Ahmed and Dr.Wael Alabbasi led this initiative, laying the groundwork for the Focused Aorta-Vascular Interventional Framework Group.
Two years later, the group welcomed esteemed vascular interventionists from the GCC, whose emerging expertise and support propelled the initiative further. This collaborative effort led to the development of a global mission framework, highlighting interdisciplinary achievements across Gulf cardiovascular hospitals, specialized centres, and societies. This milestone ultimately established a robust platform: the Gulf Aorta Initiative.
The academic-based training programs and fellowship at the University of Cologne, Germany,2015-2017, have significantly contributed to advancing expertise in the comprehensive management of aortic diseases, culminating in a robust algorithm for managing all aortic diseases, these programs spearheaded by renowned experts; Prof. Jan Brunkwall, Prof. Payman Majd, and Prof. Mohamed Sharkawy, these academic programs have set a high standard in aortic disease management and education.
The Gulf Aortic in 2023
The Aortic Summit GAS2023 is a dedicated accomplishment, which had solidified its status as a premier event within the Gulf Aorta framework, dedicated to advance aortic medicine and management. The summit became a transformative platform, equipping participants with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills to deliver personalized and sustainable solutions for patients with aortic diseases. The Interactive sessions, led by expert faculties, underscored the summit’s commitment to progress, innovation, and excellence in the field, where the Gulf Aorta educational Foundation will annually celebrate the Leading Contributors and visionary Co-Believers, who have significantly shaped the Foundation of Gulf Aorta event.
the GAS 2023 remarkable success was significantly bolstered by the genuine contributions and partnerships of renowned experts, these collaborations were instrumental in integrating the latest scientific advancements into the summit’s framework, their expertise and dedication were integral to the summit’s success, promoting advancements in aortic care and enhancing collaboration within the global medical community.

The Gulf Aorta Summit GAS2024, stands as a symbol of pride, excellence and unwavering commitment to an extended collaboration and the embrace of international scientific contributions. This global congress GAS2024, has been meticulously organized as an expert hub, featuring a distinguished curriculum that highlights cutting-edge advancements in aorta and vascular interventional management, it was made successful through the contributions of globally renowned expert faculties and highly engaged interactive scientific sessions.
The event had shown; showcase innovative techniques, review the latest scientific evidence, and explore novel concepts across various management approaches. Ultimately, GAS 2024 aspired to reach the pinnacle of achievement by offering invaluable guidance for optimizing aortic-Centered patient care and outcomes.
